BLACK LEADERS WANT THEIR POUND OF FLESH FROM MCNAIR

Bishop James Dixon says the black community “has been injured and we've been insulted.”

Now not only have the NFL players been insulted by Bob McNair’s ‘inmates’ remark, but according to Bishop James Dixon of the Community of Faith Church in Houston, the black community “has been injured and we've been insulted.”

Community of Faith Church and the NAACP are planning a Town Hall meeting to air their hurt feelings. McNair has been invited to attend, but his spokesperson said he would not be there due to health reasons.

Dixon told Channel 2 News he did not believe McNair’s apology was sincere. “We are aiming for something bigger than an apology,” Dixon said. “There has to be an act and demonstration of atonement. This community has been injured and we've been insulted. Those young men deserve to be dignified and respected. They put their lives and health on line every week for these teams.”

Put their lives on the line? Dixon is confusing the players with first responders – cops, firefighters and EMS personnel – and our soldiers in Yemen, Syria, central Africa and the Philippines who actually do put their lives on the line.

For these teams? Let’s get real! The NFL players are not playing for their teams, they’re playing for the outrageous salaries they are paid.

Dixon does not believe McNair’s apology was sincere. Neither do I. An apology forced on someone is never really sincere. But in the first place, McNair did not owe anyone an apology for his remark.

Bob McNair deserves better than to be excoriated for making an innocent figure of speech remark. He has been one of Houston’s most sterling citizens. McNair has contributed millions of dollars to various charities.

What has Bishop Dixon done other than to collect money at his church services?
