66,000 FOOLS

The Super Bowl is just a hyped-up football game with a spectacular half-time show

On Sunday 66,000 fans will pack a stadium for Super Bowl 52. The cheapest seats are priced at $3,000. Those seats are in the nosebleed sections. Ticket prices for lower-level seats are $7,500.

America must truly be the land of milk and honey when 66,000 of its citizens can afford to pay those outrageous prices. Of course the cost doesn’t stop there. There are travel expenses and jacked-up prices for hotel rooms. Add to that the cost of meals. And then there are the outrageous beer and snack prices inside the stadium.

Hey folks, it’s just a hyped-up football game with a spectacular half-time show. Those attending Super Bowl 50 were entertained by Beyonce in a shameful performance that saluted the cop-killing Black Panthers.

52 is extremely important because NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hopes it will make Americans forget the despicable behavior by many of the league's players disrespecting our flag and country by refusing to stand for the National Anthem.

Philadelphia and New England may not even be the two best teams in the NFL. On any given day the Eagles and Patriots could have been beaten by their opponents in the playoffs. The NFL is not like baseball, basketball and hockey where the leagues have best-of-seven game playoffs.

I call it the Stupor Bowl. 66,000 fools will be in attendance on Sunday. Those fools will be shelling out a small fortune when they could have stayed home and watched the game for free on their TV sets and seen the plays better than at the stadium.

Instead of watching the Stupor Bowl, I am going to watch an old cowboy movie on the Grits channel.
