THIS DOESN’T HAPPEN EVERY DAY

By Bob Walsh

Yesterday something really unusual, possibly unique even, happened on Capitol Hill. It was truly interesting to behold.

Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee. Appearing before his committee was the FBI Legislative Affairs Chief, Jason Herring. Chaffetz asked Heering flat-out if the FBI was willing to produce the full, unredacted information about the Clinton investigations that his committee wanted. Heering was unable or unwilling to do so. So Chaffetz dropped a subpoena on his ass.

As Chaffetz pointed out to the FBI hack that Congress has the legal authority to look into such things and the FBI and the DOJ have already determined that they will not move further into the Clinton investigation(s). They can’t really say now that they are protecting the integrity of the investigation.

Various media talking heads are saying that they expect a federal judge will get involved in the situation almost immediately and that it is highly likely that the matter will be resolved within the next few days. I am not so sure, unless part of that resolution is providing congress with pretty much what they want.

This could be fun to watch.
