It would seem that the Miami Herald (an actual newspaper, they do still exist) has obtained copies of a dispatch log from the Broward County S.O. that clearly indicate that Captain Jan Jordan gave specific orders for the deputies to establish a perimeter around the school on Valentine's Day.
Another media report indicates that the time line is off and that this order, if given, was given AFTER all the shooting was over.
Sheriff Scott Israel has indeed confirmed that the official Broward County policy is in line with current training and general practices within the law enforcement community. That training and policy says that, in the case of an active shooter, staff should actively and immediately seek out and engage the shooter in order to minimize casualties.
It has also been confirmed now that the Coral Springs P. D. officers were the first to actually enter the building, not the Broward County Deputies, who were indeed first on the scene.
The S. O. has not responded to media requests for official release of the call logs.
Something smells very bad here and is smelling worse and worse every day.
