Don Davis is a left-wing congressman from the Chicago area. He has said, on the record, that he would like to ban all private firearms ownership other than those owned by private security guards who mostly work for rich people.
He has proposed HR 5103, which would, if passed do the following. Increase the F.E.T. on handguns from the current 10% to 20%. Increase the current F.E.T. on long guns from 11% to 20%. Increase the F.E.T. on ammunition from 11% to 50%.
He states the intent of this legislation is to make it harder for ordinary citizens to own guns and ammunition.
