Man to be charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer

HOUSTON -- There were shattered windows and shattered nerves on Rutland in the Heights Sunday night as SWAT team members had guns drawn, surrounding the upstairs garage apartment of a man armed with a handgun.
Inside, the man was breaking out windows and screaming at police.
Houston police said they believe the man was high on some kind of ultra-powerful narcotic.
“When officers arrived, he was up there in the apartment screaming," Victor Senties said. "One of our officers made contact with him and he actually showed the handgun and he racked the handgun and then went back into the apartment."
The incident began about 5:15 p.m. Sunday. A woman believed to be the man’s girlfriend called 911, saying her boyfriend was armed with a gun.
With the SWAT team surrounding the apartment on Rutland near West 12th. Houston police said the man suddenly jumped right through a second story window to get to the officers located below.
Officers Tasered the suspect, but he still managed to bite one officer in the leg and kick another officer in the face.
The suspect was tied up and transported to Ben Taub Hospital.
He will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer, according to investigators.
No shots were fired during the incident.
