TONIGHT'S VP DEBATE

I call it a draw

My take away from tonight's VP debate is that Harris supporters will say Walz was outstanding, and Trump supporters will say Vance was outstanding. I have to call it a draw.

Both candidates were good at evading answering questions thrown at them by the CBS News moderators.

Walz made a serious gaffe during a discussion of gun violence by saying "I've become friends with school shooters." And when asked why he has lied about being in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests, he danced around the answer before saying that he was in China the Summer of 1989 and "misspoke." 

Vance continuously accused Harris of making policies that President Biden made.

Both men were good in defending their running mates. Walz did score a knockdown of sorts during their discussion of the January 6 insurrection. 

At one point Vance got into a real face-to-face debate with Walz, but the moderators quickly stopped them.

As in the Harris-Trump debate, moderators Norah O'Donnell and Margaret Brennan were biased, this time against Vance. When he hit back at them for fact checking him, they cut his mic. 

I doubt this debate changed more than a handful of votes. If only Trump had done as well against Harris as Vance did against Walz.
