In 1321, 160 Jews were executed in Chincon, France for the crime of not being Christian.

In 1772 King Gustav III engineered a coupe in Sweden and overthrew the parliamentary government that had been in place for 50 years.

In 1831 the Nat Turner Rebellion began.

In 1841 John Hampton patented the Venetian Blind.
