SMART VICTIM, GUTLESS PROSECUTOR??

By Bob Walsh

I have written briefly about this crime before. On December 6 three people, a 40-year old black woman and two men, robbed a man in San Francisco. The man happened to have political connection in S. F. government. She grabbed his cell phone, told him she would mace him and one of the men would shoot him if he resisted, then offered to sell the phone back to him.

The victim, Scott Weiner, a member of the Board of Supervisors, agreed and walked the two to a nearby ATM machine and managed to get the two morons to stand where the camera would photograph them as he withdrew the ransom money for his iPhone.

When the two were caught, which wasn’t all that hard under the circumstances, they were charged, among other things, with kidnapping related to a robbery. It could have gotten them life without. The DA, the former Chief of Police, George Gascone, backed off on the kidnapping charge.

The prime criminal, LaSonya Wells, is represented by Jeff Adachi of the Public Defender’s Office. Adachi screamed that the kidnapping charge was “positively medieval” and that she was a low-level criminal. Actually she has done three stretches in prison including one for ADW.

The woman and her son and co-defendant, Damian Wells, still face significant felony charges of robbery, extortion and grand theft.
