Idiocy that endangers the lives of New Jersey’s police and citizens

Police officers carry their weapons off duty. It is not only for their protection and the protection of their families, it is also for the protection of the citizens. Law enforcement is one of the few occupations where the workers are supposed to do their jobs 24 hours a day.
2018 was a rough year for the police. 144 officers died in the line of duty. Yet, as I write this article, there is a state that is attempting to further endanger the lives of it's police and citizens.
New Jersey
The law: A large capacity ammunition magazine is defined under subsection y. of N.J.S.2C:39-1 as “a box, drum, tube or other container which is capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm.
Question: What is the penalty for possession of a large capacity magazine in New Jersey?
Answer: A 4th degree felony with up to 18 months of jail time and a $10,000 fine.
There is no grandfather provision for this violation.
Question: Were otherwise law abiding citizens automatically made felons in the Garden State?
Answer: Yes
The state police haven't received any reports of citizens turning in large capacity magazines in an effort to comply with the new law. There have not been any orders issued by the State Attorney General as to enforcing the new law. I understand that a provision to exempt police is being drafted. As of now, off duty police carrying a large capacity magazine while driving home from the job are felons.
We are a nation of laws. The laws are meant to protect us. In an effort to thwart the 2nd amendment of the United States Constitution, liberal leaning New Jersey law makers along with the Governor have made criminals by estimate of at least one million of it's citizens.
I wonder how many career criminals have turned their large capacity magazines?
This is idiocy running rampant.
