A black Houston teacher has been fired after she unleashed a racist rant on a Hispanic couple, following a minor traffic accident.
Tiffany Scott, 27, got into a fender bender with engaged couple Kimberly Lopez and Jose Sanchez on Tuesday, which led to the black educator being caught on camera shouting at them.
‘You swam here with the rest of your family,’ Scott said in the video, among other things.
Lopez, whose Facebook account is listed as Kimberly Sanchez, shared the short clips on social media, which resulted in Scott being fired from KIPP Voyage Academy for Girls.
Scott was also arrested on an assault charge, after allegedly swatting the phone out of Lopez’s hand, the Houston Chronicle reported.
She later apologized for her remarks, adding that she was responding to a similar comment about swimming, made by the couple, who she said also spat on her, which they denied.
The video was allegedly taken after Scott left the scene of the accident, but then returned.
Scott, who is from Miami, told the Chronicle that when she made the comment about swimming, she was responding in kind to something Sanchez and Lopez had said to her.
‘They asked me if I swam from Africa to Houston,’ she said. ‘My intentions was never to bring any other race down, so I want to go ahead and apologize for that.’
Lopez, whose Facebook account is listed as Kimberly Sanchez, shared the short clips on social media, which resulted in Scott being fired from KIPP Voyage Academy for Girls
But moments after Scott’s swimming comment, she makes the choice to cast doubt on the citizenship status of Lopez and Sanchez.
‘You have kids here so that made you a USA citizen? Right,’ Scott says, seemingly aware that she is being videotaped.
In a second clip, Scott insults not only Hispanic people in general, but specifically the children she teaches, with reference to Lopez and Sanchez.
She says something about Mexico, but the first part of her sentence is cut off. Sanchez can then be heard off-camera saying, 'Yeah, we make them in Mexico... oh yeah, we fucking make them in Mexico.'
Then Scott replies, 'No, they don't. I teach all ya'll dumb-as kids, ya'll dont.'
Houston police arrived on the scene at around 6.40pm on Tuesday, department spokesperson Jodi Silva said, after receiving a call about an 'accident with a disturbance.'
Scott was eventually arrested on an assault charge. Both Lopez and Sanchez deny making racially motivated comments toward Scott, and say they didn't spit on her.
The video clips were first posted to Snapchat, but then uploaded to Facebook. Lopez later removed the records from public view, due to comments from others users, Sanchez said.
Before they were removed, however, KIPP was made aware of them and immediately fired Scott.
'Wednesday morning, we were made aware of a video being shared on social media where a KIPP employee is observed making racially insensitive and inappropriate comments while off-campus,' KIPP Regional Superintendent Daniel Caesar wrote in a statement.
'We acknowledge the many social media supporters who shared their concerns. We value each and every student and family that is a part of the KIPP network, and we do not tolerate discriminatory remarks of any kind.
'KIPP Texas Public Schools is committed to taking swift action in situations such as these, and we remain committed to our mission of preparing our students for choice-filled lives as they continue on the path to and through college.'
Scott said that she's not a racist, and is contemplating litigation.
'I made sure that, when I came to Houston, I gave 100 percent and I made sure that every child I taught knew that Ms. Scott loved them,' she said.
Scott had been teaching at KIPP for two years before she was fired.

White woman calls cops on black child she says touched her butt

A white woman was captured on video calling the cops on a 9-year-old black child who she claimed grabbed her butt in a Brooklyn bodega, an accusation that outraged locals — and caused the kid to burst into tears.
“I want the cops here right now!” the woman, who identifies herself as a Flatbush resident named Teresa Klein, can be heard demanding over the phone. “The son grabbed my a– and she decided to yell at me.”
A crowd starts to form outside the Sahara Deli in Flatbush as the woman, in sunglasses and knee-high boots, continues to yell loudly into her phone, as frustrated residents implore her to “go home.”
The child can be seen wailing outside the bodega as the crowd tries to comfort him and come to his defense.
“Nobody wants to touch your flat a–,” one woman sneers. Another person branded the accuser “Cornerstore Caroline,” an apparent reference to other recent viral videos of white women — “Barbecue Becky,” “Permit Patty” — calling the police on African-Americans over seemingly minor incidents.
At one point, Klein appears to realize she’s causing a spectacle, telling the crowd: “White lady calls the cops on black lady, I get it.”
Another white woman also walks up to confront her — and the two almost come to blows.Jason Littlejohn, who filmed and posted the now-viral video on Wednesday, claimed the boy was being falsely accused.
