Morgan Geyser, now 15, pleaded guilty last year to attempted first degree murder for the multiple stabbing of a school friend in order to gain the favor of The Slender Man, an internet character. Part of the deal was no prison time for the crime that was committed when all the participants were 12. Ms.Geyser was determined to be delusional as the result of schizophrenia and a psychotic disorder.
Ms. Geyser got 40 years in the state nut farm. Her co-defendant, Anissa Weier, earlier copped to attempted second-degree homicide and got 25 years in the nut farm. Under Wisconsin law her lawyers can petition every six months for her release.
Their victim, also 12 at the time, was stabbed 19 times but managed to crawl out of the woods onto a bicycle path where a passer-by saw her and called for help. She survived and is doing reasonably well, under the circumstances.
