Antics of the CBC only antagonize whites and exacerbate the nation’s racial divide

When Trump gave his State of the Union address, notable among those in attendance were the members of the Congressional Black Caucus. Showing no shame, they sat on their black asses throughout what, according to the polls, was generally thought of as a fine speech.
The CBC members adorned their suits and dresses with brightly colored Ghana kente cloth patterns as a show of protest against Trump calling some African countries ‘shithole countries’ ….. which they are. When even most Democrats stood up and applauded the president’s statement that black unemployment was lower than ever before, they remained in their seats and gave Trump the evil stare.
A few CBC members boycotted the State if the Union address, including civil rights icon John Lewis who calls Trump a racist.
CBC members cannot be faulted for fighting discrimination against blacks. They cannot be faulted for trying to get federally funded projects for the black community. That’s what white members of congress do for their constituents. But CBC is better known by the screeching of two members – Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee.
In response to Trump’s remarks about the low black unemployment rate, Jackson Lee complained to HuffPost that young black men lacked good schools within their own neighborhoods, do not receive any job training, and receive no support for their families. She added this about Trump’s remarks:
“So I thought it was disingenuous, and it was placating, and insulting, to be very honest with you. Where’s the compassion and the passion for comprehensive issues dealing with our community? Gun violence? The need for housing?”
Jackson Lee is right about the schools, but to claim the families of young blacks receive no support is simply outrageous. Has she ever stopped off at a welfare office? Or at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston or the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital in Galveston? If she went to the newborn sections of those hospitals she would see that the overwhelming number of patients there are minorities on Medicare.
The caucus is also known for wrongdoing by its members. CBC members Jesse Jackson Jr. is and William Jefferson are in prison. Charles Rangel should be under lock and key. Maxine Waters pressured the Treasury Department to bail out a failing bank in which her husband had a stake. And John Conyers and Alcee Hastings have been accused of sexual assault.
Of course, the CBC plays the race card by complaining they are being singled out in greater proportions than their white colleagues.
The CBC members should be ashamed for their behavior duting Trump’s State of the Union address, but they have no shame.
The CBC needs to be informed they represent only 13 percent of the U.S. population. There are far more racists in this country then there are blacks … that’s right, far more racists. The antics of the CBC only antagonize whites and exacerbate the nation’s racial divide.
This month is Black History Month. I am sure history will take little note of the Congressional Black Caucus.
