Political opportunists are often assholes and accusations are not proof. That being said I find it amusing that Ca. Assemblywoman Cristian Garcia, (D-Bell Gardens), who is the head of the CA legislature's Women's Caucus and a leader in the #MeToo movement is on the wrong end of a sexual misconduct complaint.
Ms. Garcia is accused of groping a male staffer from another legislator's office. The incident is alleged to have occurred in 2014 in the dugout after a softball game. The victim did not report the incident at the time but did inform his former boss, Ian Calderon, in January. Calderon passed the complaint on to legislative leaders.
A second person, a lobbyist (therefore not an actual human being) made a similar complaint about Garcia from a 2017 fundraiser.
Ms. Garcia said, "I have zero recollection of engaging in inappropriate behavior and such behavior is inconsistent with my values." Both victims assert that Garcia appeared to be shitfaced at the time of the incidents.
I guess alcoholic blackout is a defense for assholeish behavior if you are an elected official.
