NO IKE DIKE ... WHAT WILL HAPEN TO HOUSTON-GALVESTON IF STRUCK BY CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE

By Howie Katz

Hurricane Melissa has brought never-before seen levels of devastation to Jamaica, the UN's resident coordinator in the country said October 29, 2025. Cubans waded through flooded, debris-strewn streets as Hurricane Melissa blasted across the Caribbean, leaving 30 dead or missing in Haiti and devastating swaths of Jamaica. Before and after photos show damage in Jamaica

Hurricane Melissa caused catastrophic damage to Jamaica and Cuba, leaving some areas unrecognizable.

If a Category 5 Hurricane were to strike Houston-Galveston, it would cause similar damages, but on a much, much larger scale than that experienced in the Caribbean. That is because the Ike Dike proposed in 2009 by Texas A&M professor William Merrell has not been built.

Lead image for this article

The Ike Dike was torpedoed by environmentalists who claimed that the  proposed flood gates at Galveston would interfere with the migration of marine life, and by a Rice University group who proposed protecting the petro-chemical complex along the Houston ship channel instead.

The environmentalists disregarded the fact that the flood gates would be closed only during the approach of a hurricane and the Rice group disregarded the fact that the Ike Dike also would have protected their beloved petro-chemical complex.

So far Houston-Galveston has not been hit by a Melissa strength hurricane, but how long can our luck last? When it does hit us, we will curse those damn environmentalists and Rice eggheads.

TRUMP IS LIKE A TWO-HEADED SNAKE.

By Howie Katz

In dealing with Israel, President Trump is like a two-headed snake.

One head is friendly to the Jewish state. Trump has been the friendliest US president Israel has had since President Harry Truman. He is also the most friendly world leader Israel has had.

But the other head is hostile to the Jewish state. Trump has been embracing the enemies of Israel that have sworn to obliterate the Jewish state and its people.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a close ally of Hamas and has publicly called on Allah to "destroy and devastate Israel." Yet Trump calls Erdoğan a great leader and continues to embrace the Jew-hater.

Erdoğan: "May Allah, for the sake of his name ‘Al-Qahhar,’ destroy and devastate Zionist Israel."

President Trump warmly greets Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a summit on Gaza in Sharm el-Sheikh on October 13, 2025.

Qatar has been the chief funder of Hamas in the terrorist group's stated aim of destroying Israel. Qatar has also let Hamas leaders make their homes in the Gulf State. The Emir of Qatar gifted Trump with a $400 million Boeing 747-8 luxury jetliner, a bribe the President gladly accepted.

President Trump expresses his close friendship with Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al Thani as they attend a state dinner at the Lusail Palace on May 14, 2025, in Doha, Qatar.

Trump has also given his word to the Arab countries  that Israel won't annex the West Bank and threatened the Jewish state with the loss of all US support if it tried to do that.

Israel would be better served if the Erdoğan and Qatar-loving head of the snake were to be cut off.

DOES TRUMP STILL PLAN TO TURN GAZA INTO A MEDITERRANEAN RESORT?

By Howie Katz

Last February President Trump announced a plan to turn Gaza into a Middle East Riviera.

Israel says the next phase of the truce requires Hamas to cede power - demands the group has so far rejected. It has instead launched a security crackdown in Gaza, including public executions and clashes with local clans

Trump wants to turn this ...

... into this

Hell will freeze over before Gaza ever becomes a Mediterranean resort.

WHY WERE THE EUROPEANS LIKE MACRON AND STARMER IN EGYPT FOR THE SIGNING OF TRUMP'S PEACE AGREEMENT?

By Howie Katz

Leaders gather on stage
US President Donald Trump speaks during a world leaders' summit on ending the Gaza war in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, October 13, 2025.

President Trump was in Egypt yesterday for the ceremonial signing of his peace agreement.

So were the Europeans. Why? The Europeans, like French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, have prolonged the Israel-Hamas war by condemning Israel's conduct in the war and by recognizing a Palestinian state. The Europeans should not have been at the peace conference.

Among the Europeans, both Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer have prolonged the Israel-Hamas war by condemning Israel's conduct in the war and by recognizing a Palestinian state.

Credit for the agreement belongs solely to President Trump and the mediators Qatar, Turkey and Egypt. It was Trump's 20-point plan that was what the peace conference was all about. The Europeans had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Credit for the agreement belongs solely to President Trump and the mediators Qatar, Turkey and Egypt.

The window dressing of world leaders at the conference minimizes the role Trump played.in obtaining the agreement. The Europeans should hang their heads in shame for doing the exact opposite of what President Trump accomplished.

SHAME, SHAME ON THOSE WHO DISHONOR CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS

By Howie Katz

Today is Columbus Day, the day we honor the great and brave explorer, Christopher Columbus.

On August 3, 1492, when Columbus first set out from Spain on a westward route to India, most people believed the earth was flat and that his ships would fall off the edge of the world. But on October 12, 1492, Columbus and his crew landed on an island in the Bahamas that he named San Salvador.

But instead of honoring Columbus like they should, leftists have rewritten history by falsely accusing him of enslaving the indigenous people of the Americas. They have defaced and destroyed statues of him and have renamed schools and public facilities that had been named in his honor.

Columbus never mistreated or enslaved any of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. That was done by the Spanish explorers who came after Columbus.

The second Monday of October is officially designated as a federal holiday in honor of Columbus. But many places have eliminated Columbus Day and replaced it with Indigenous Peoples Day.

Christopher Columbus rightfully deserves an honored place in history and shame, shame on those who would deny him that.

TWO YEARS AGO TODAY, THE JEWISH PEOPLE SUFFERED THE WORST ATROCITIES SINCE THE HOLOCAUST

By Howie Katz

On October 7, 2023 several thousand Hamas fighters and Gaza civilians invaded Southern Israel to commit unspeakable atrocities against Jewish men women, children and even babies, slaughtering 1,200 of them. They beheaded babies while they were alive, raped women and mutilated dead bodies. The invaders also abducted 251 hostages.

The Palestinians even took bodies of murdered Israelis as trophies back into Gaza to the loud cheers of thousands of Gazans.

Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank cheered and danced in the streets as they celebrated the atrocities.

Hamas subsequently murdered a number of the hostages, including infant Kfir Bibas, who was 9-months-old when he was kidnapped, his 4-year-old brother Ariel Bibas, and their mother Shiri Bibas.

The atrocities perpetrated by Hamas and the Gazans were the worst against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. That is what anyone with a trace of decency should remember. Instead, people and governments all over the globe are accusing Israel of committing genocide against the Palestinians and protesting against its war with Hamas.
