Tomorrow marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Isaac Asimov. Many readers in my generation (prehistoric) cut their SciFi teeth on I-Robot and the Foundation series.
Asimov was born in Russia, but corrected that error at the age of three. He taught himself to read before entering kindergarten and entered college at 15. He was a successful professional writer at age 18. He wrote an average of ten books a year and edited books as well. Asimov authored books that occupy nine of the ten basic subclassifications of the Dewey Decimal System. He shuffled off to whatever comes next about 18 years ago and left a rich legacy behind.
There are worse things you could say about a guy.
