A lot of people will tell you that fishing off the company pier (relationships within the work place) are not usually a good thing and can cause a lot of trouble. There are times and circumstances in which case it is not only really bad but illegal.
Ryan Woolery, 32, is (or actually was) a deputy sheriff with Butte County, CA. He was found to be getting it on with a female prisoner. In most states, including California, it is not legally possible for a prisoner to consent to sexual relations with a custody employee, due to the power differential and implied coercive power.
Woolery is now unemployed, and free on $45,000 bail, facing a felony charge. The news blurb I saw did not specify what sort of charge exactly but it is likely rape.
