Store clerk grabs robber’s gun, conks him on the head with the cash drawer and chases him with a hammer

Christian Thornton, 17, is self-employed as an armed robber. But he’s not too good on the job. He badly needs to retake Robbery 101.
On Thursday, Christian entered a Keystone convenience store in Burke County, Georgia. He obtained a soft drink and then confronted cashier Buhmika Patel with a gun, demanding that she give him the store’s money. Instead, Buhmika grabbed Christian’s gun and conked him over the head with the cash drawer. She then grabbed a hammer and chased poor old Chris out of the store.
Burke County sheriff’s investigators got a good look at Chris from the store’s surveillance video. He was busted the next day and charged with attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during commission of the crime.
Chris is now unemployed. He will have ample time to contemplate how the robbery went awry. While Chris roosts in jail or prison, he should think about getting into a new line of work. Operating a cash and carry curbside pharmacy could be profitable. If he doesn’t want to change occupations, Chris should reenroll in Robbery 101. They might even offer that course as part of the prison’s education program.
The moral to this story is that if you’re planning a holdup with a gun, don’t flunk Robbery 101.
