“Love a happy ending” ends in unhappy ending for 22-year veteran Fairborn Officer Lee Cyr

Another cop bites the dust for sounding off on social media. In this case it was a 22-year veteran Fairborn, Ohio police officer. And it was only four words that got him fired.
On February 8, MarShawn McCarrel II, 23, who coordinated Black Lives Matter protests ever since the 2014 Ferguson shooting of Michael Brown, committed suicide by shooting himself on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse.
Among the condolence messages on McCarrel’s Facebook page, Fairborn Officer Lee Cyr wrote “Love a happy ending”
Cyr’s remark obviously came to the attention of Fairborn city officials.
Police Chief Terry Barlow said Monday that Cyr was terminated after an internal affairs investigation into the social media posting. According to the Chief, “This action is in violation of the department’s social media policy and does not conform to the professional standards and core values established by the organization.”
The police department also issued the following statement: “After completion of an internal affairs investigation, the Fairborn Police Department has terminated the employment of Officer Lee Cyr effective immediately.”
Fire a 22-year veteran officer for that? Horseshit! Discipline him yes, but fire him, no! Cyr was expressing what 99 percent of cops across the country also thought, but were smart enough not to put their thoughts in writing.
Black Lives Matter is a police-hating group of rabble-rousers and I say good riddance to McCarrel.
What is so disgusting is not what Cyr said, but that minority activists have got the white power structure shaking in its boots to the extent that cops are being thrown under the bus for any behavior that might be the least bit offensive to minorities.
The internet can be a ‘cop killer.’ My advice to cops has been and will continue to be: Stay away from social media!
