Obama kissing Bob Bergdahl, Bowe's father: The shameful kiss that dishonored our troops in Afghanistan
On June 27, 2009, US Army Private First Class Robert 'Bowe' Bergdahl sent an email to his parents in which he said he was bothered by the treatment of Afghans by American soldiers and "I am ashamed to be an american. And the title of US soldier is just the lie of fools. ... The US army is the biggest joke the world has to laugh at. It is the army of liars, backstabbers, fools, and bullies."
Bob Bergdahl, his father, responded with an email in which he said, "Ethics demands obedience to our conscience." And obey his conscience, Bowe did.
On the night of June 30, 2009, Bergdahl deserted hus front-line observation post in the eastern Afghan province of Paktika. Shortly thereaftter he was captured by the Taliban.

Speaking in the Rose Garden, President Obama said: "Sergeant Bergdahl has missed birthdays and holidays, and the simple moments with family and friends which all of us take for granted."
It has been reported that several US soldiers were killed while searching for Bergdahl. 2,500 American service members were killed during the Afghan war. They will never again celebrate birthdays and holidays, and the simple moments with family and friends.
