ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY

By Howie Katz

In 2001, nineteen Muslim terrorists hijacked four airliners.  Two of them flew into and destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Center in NYC.  Another one flew into and damaged the Pentagon.  The fourth plane crashed in a Pennsylvania field after passengers kept it from flying either into Congress or the White House.

The coordinated attacks were the single deadliest terrorist attack in the history of mankind.  2,977 people were killed and more than 25,000 injured.  And the attack caused at least $10 billion in in property damage.
