The People's Republic of California has some very stringent health warning requirements for carcinogens. If there is ANY AMOUNT of ANYTHING in ANY PRODUCT that MIGHT give you cancer, you have to be warned about it, for your own safety of course. Trouble is, testing has gotten much better since the law was passed over 30 years ago and they can find potential carcinogens damn near everywhere.
Some moron judge has just determined that COFFEE meets the requirements for mandatory safety warning in California so now Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks have to warn you about it.
So, the next time you buy a cup of coffee in the formerly great state of California don't be surprised it there is a warning label on it.

The Army wants to make basic training tougher to prepare its newest soldiers for a major conflict

Senior U.S. Army leaders are pushing a campaign to enhance recruiting, toughen physical fitness training and extend Basic Combat Training to prepare soldiers for a major future conflict.
Secretary of the Army Mark Esper spoke Monday at the Association of the United States Army's Global Force Symposium about his vision for the Army of 2028 that calls for a larger, more physically fit force.
"To meet the challenges of 2028 and beyond, the total Army must grow," Esper said. "A decade from now, we need an active component above 500,000 soldiers with associated growth in the Guard and Reserve."
The Army requested 4,000 soldiers be added to the active force as part of the proposed fiscal 2019 budget. The increase would boost the active-duty ranks from 483,500 to 487,500.
The Army must focus on "recruiting and retaining high-quality, physically fit, mentally tough soldiers who will deploy and fight and win decisively on any future battlefield," he said.
"A decade from now, the soldiers we recruit today will be our company commanders and platoon sergeants. That's why we are considering several initiatives, to a new physical fitness regime to reforming and extending basic training in order to ensure our young men and women are prepared for the rigors of high-intensity combat," he added.
Esper did not give details about extending Basic Combat Training, which currently lasts 10 weeks. But the Army has already begun reforming BCT.
By early summer, recruits will go through a new Army BCT, redesigned to instill strict discipline and esprit de corps by placing enhanced emphasis on drill and ceremony, inspections and pride in military history while increasing the focus on critical training such as physical fitness, marksmanship, communications and battlefield first aid skills.
The new program of instruction is the result of surveys taken from thousands of leaders who have observed a trend of new soldiers fresh out of training displaying a lack of obedience and poor work ethic, as well as being careless with equipment, uniforms and appearance, according to Army Training and Doctrine Command officials.
The Army has also been considering adopting the proposed Army Combat Readiness Test: A six-event fitness test designed to better prepare troops for the rigors of combat than the current three-event Army Physical Fitness Test, or APFT.
The ACRT was developed, at the request of Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, to better prepare soldiers for the physical challenges of the service's Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills -- the list of key skills all soldiers are taught to help them survive in combat.
Gen. James McConville, the Army's vice chief of staff, said that the service is also considering improving the screening processes it uses to better prepare recruits coming into the Army.
"We are going to put more screening systems in place to make sure that when young men and women enter the Army, they are ready to meet the standards," McConville said.
Training and Doctrine Command has done a "great job of implementing the Occupational Physical Assessment Test, which is a four-event physical-fitness test to make sure that young men and women get in shape before they go to initial military training," he said.
"Then once they get into initial military training, we are screening them again to meet the physical demands of being in the Army," McConville said.
The Army is also testing a concept that involves assigning fitness experts to two Army divisions, he said.
"We are putting physical therapists, we are putting strength coaches, we are putting dieticians into each of the units so when the [new] soldiers get there, we continue to keep them in shape as they go forward," McConville said.
"We are going to have to take what we have, we are going to have to develop that talent and we are going to bring them in and make them better," he added.
Under Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy said the service is also going to have to get better at how it approaches recruiting.
"When 87 percent of the people we recruit have someone in their family that has been in the military, it starts to beg the question, 'Are we expansive enough in our recruiting efforts?' " McCarthy said.
"Are we sophisticated enough in the way we communicate to the entire country and recruit the best quality individuals?," he said.
"So our sophistication has got to get better, from the tools that we have to find the people to the manner in which we communicate."
EDITOR’S NOTE: I have long maintained that, except for our special forces, today’s soldiers are not mentally capable of engaging in the kind of close-in combat our troops experienced in the Pacific during WW2, in the Korean War and in Vietnam.
The problem is that the Army has become too dependent on new technologies to protect our ground forces and that won’t work when fighting the massive armies of North Korea or China.
Furthermore, political correctness has disallowed the type of recruit training depicted in the movie “Full Metal Jacket.” Gunnery Sergeant Hartman has now been relegated from drill sergeant to drill counselor.

A sixth-grade teacher has delivered a shocking classroom rant claiming that President Donald Trump wants a return to segregation and accused white students of being the progeny of 'European' mass murderers.
Student Josie Orihuela recorded the incident last month at Hampton Middle School near Atlanta, where social studies teacher Johnetta Benton was delivering a lesson for Black History Month.
Josie began recording just after Benton turned off a film the class was watching and pronounced that that 'Make America Great Again' could be a precursor to 'trying to bring back segregation,' the student told Fox News.
'He must be talking about when it was great for Europeans,' Benton says in the recording. 'Because when it comes to minorities, America has never been great for minorities.'
'Cuz when I examine history, I can't remember a time when it was great for anybody other than the Europeans,' Benton continued.
Another male teacher was heard in the classroom interjecting periodically in support of Benton's arguments.
When students tried to reply that Trump's slogan might be a call for a return to stricter legal controls on immigration, such as the nation had before the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, Benton rejected the notion.
'Because Europeans came from Europe. You are immigrants. You are illegal immigrants. Because you came and just took it... You are an immigrant. This is not your country,' Benton said.
'Before you talk about somebody else look at yourself in the mirror, look at your ancestry in the mirror before you start saying "You're bad, and you're bad and you're bad so you can't come 'cause you happened to have killed a few people" - Well guess what my people have killed millions, not a few. Millions upon millions upon millions - babies and children,' she said, speaking in the voice of a 'European'.
Benton has been a teacher for 18 years, according to her profile on the school website.
J.D. Hardin, the communications coordinator for the Henry County schools in Georgia, called the rant 'extremely unfortunate,' and said that the matter had been 'addressed immediately' in a statement to Fox News.
It was not clear what action had been taken, and Hardin did not immediately reply to a message from DailyMail.com.
'This unfortunate incident affords us to opportunity to remind our educators of the importance of keeping any potential political bias out of lessons for students of any age,' Hardin said.
It comes days after another social studies teacher at the same middle school assigned students to write a letter to lawmakers demanding new restrictions on gun ownership.
Outraged parent William Lee, a law enforcement officer, showed the assignment by teacher Corey Sanders to the police news site Blue Lives Matter.
'For this assignment, you are writing a letter to the lawmakers of the United States. The purpose of this letter is to pressure lawmakers to have stricter gun laws in the United States,' the assignment read.
Josie's mother, Kimberly Orihuela, also spoke with Blue Lives Matter, saying she had withdrawn her daughter from Hampton Middle over Benton's actions.
'I had to get my kids out of the Henry County schools,' Kimberly said.
'She basically told these children that they were responsible for millions of deaths. Why is she saying that every white child is the descendent of a slave owner? That's just not true,' she said.
'I told my daughter I was proud that she had the nerve to ask the questions – that she called her out on the fact Trump is talking about illegal immigrants, not legal immigrants,' Kimberly said.
'But when she told the kids to go home and look in the mirror and reflect on what their ancestors have done… I had had enough,' the mother said.

This morning I read a blog from BARKGROWLBITE that gave kudos to the Dalhart, Texas police department for hiring a deaf female police officer. Kudos for what?
Apparently the Chief of Police felt that this determined young lady deserved a chance at being a police officer. I applaud her for trying to fulfill her passion to become a police officer, but let's be rational about her quest.
Even though she must go through a 6 month FTO program where she will not be allowed to patrol by herself this will not prevent the following:
1. How can a deaf officer hear if her partner needs assistance when clearing a building?
2. How can a deaf person search for a lost child if they can't hear the child call out?
3. How can a deaf person work traffic?
4. How can a deaf person hear a person coming up behind them to do them harm?
The Chief of Police lauded the fact that the newly appointed deaf officer will be an asset for those who are hard of hearing or deaf. I want to know what percentage of the population of Dalhart is deaf. It seems that there are a lot of duties that the officer cannot adequately fulfill in order to do a single duty of communicating with deaf citizens.
I believe this is an effort in futility. A deaf police officer puts the citizens, her partner and herself at risk. It is dangerous and The City of Dalhart needs to step back and look at the big picture.

It is completely possible that a fairly large P D would have a reasonable uses for such a person, possibly even in a sworn officer capacity. Putting a deaf officer out "on the street" as a working, uniformed police officer is folly at best and a huge liability issue at worst, not only for the general public but for other officers.

Synthetic pot warning issued after 22 people in Illinois report bleeding from eyes, ears

State and local health officials issued a warning Thursday about a new symptom of synthetic pot —excessive bleeding from the eyes and ears.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 22 people in the past few weeks visited emergency rooms with severe bleeding after using a synthetic cannabinoid product.
Most of those affected were in the Chicago area, but health officials warned the contaminated products could also be present elsewhere across the state, said department spokeswoman Melaney Arnold.
Though synthetic pot has long been considered dangerous, severe bleeding is not a known side effect, said Dr. Melissa Millewich, an emergency room physician at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
“This bleeding is not expected, at least in such a significant population so quickly,” she said.
Despite a statewide ban, Arnold said manufacturers could be slightly tweaking the molecular makeup of the products as a way to “get around” the law, allowing for them to be sold legally. They are also sold on the street, she said, and those experiencing the bleeding said they obtained the products in convenience stores and from dealers and friends.
Health officials reported 22 known people who experienced the symptom since March 7, and they continue to track the situation, Arnold said. So far, there are no deaths reported.
A change in the latest formula could be behind the new, dangerous symptom, Millewich said. Because health officials don’t know the exact makeup of the products, it’s unclear what’s causing the bleeding, she added.
While there have been no such cases at Good Samaritan’s ER, Millewich said, synthetic pot, often called “fake weed,” “K2” or “spice,” has previously displayed life-threatening symptoms like kidney failure, along with psychosis.
“People don’t realize how dangerous this is,” she said.
The man-made substance is a mixture of hundreds of chemicals, often called cannabinoids because they affect the same brain cell receptors as the main ingredient in marijuana. Cannabinoids are sometimes sprayed on plant material for smoking, or are sold as liquids to be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes and other devices, the health department’s warning said. The products are also sometimes referred to as herbal or liquid incense.
Recent patient reports of severe bleeding led health officials to warn the public not to use any synthetic cannabinoid products.
While those affected by the outbreak admitted using cannabinoids, it’s been difficult to determine their exact source for the substance, Arnold said.
Dr. Nirav Shah, director of the public health department, says there’s an erroneous perception that synthetic cannabinoids are a safe and legal alternative to marijuana.
Shah says they're unsafe because it's difficult to know what chemicals they contain or what an individual's reaction will be.
A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study found there’s also an association between teens who use synthetic pot and a heightened risk for violent behavior, risky sex and abuse of other drugs.
Anyone who uses these drugs and experiences unexplained bleeding or bruising is advised to call 911 or have someone take them to an emergency room.

MOONBEAM GREASES THE SKIDS FOR MORE ILLEGAL ALIEN FELONS

The governor of the formerly great state of California, Jerry 'Moonbeam' Brown, has taken action to try to ensure that at least five more illegal alien criminals will be permitted to stay in the state.
Shokha Chhan was facing deportation to Cambodia. He was convicted of wife beating and threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize.
Daniel Maher was sentenced in 1995 for kidnapping and robbery with the use of a firearm.
Phann Pheach was born in a refugee camp in Thailand. In 2005 he was convicted of possession and obstructing a police officer.
Francisco Acevedo Alaniz was convicted of vehicle theft in 1997.
Sergio Mena was sentenced in 2003 for possession with intent to sell.
Just the sort of people we need more of in the U. S. in general and California in particular. .

Phann Pheach was born in a refugee camp in Thailand. In 2005 he was convicted of possession and obstructing a police officer.
Francisco Acevedo Alaniz was convicted of vehicle theft in 1997.
Sergio Mena was sentenced in 2003 for possession with intent to sell.
Just the sort of people we need more of in the U. S. in general and California in particular. .
POPE SAID THERE IS NO HELL

It was widely reported in the media on Friday that, in a private conversation with a personal friend who happened to be an atheist, that the Pope asserted flat-out that Hell does not in fact exist. (Clearly he has not been to Passaic, N.J. or Baltimore recently.)
I wonder how vigorously and quickly the Vatican is going to be working to dial this back.
