39-year-old Alex Ovechkin scores his 895th goal to break Wayne Gretzky's NHL record of most goals scored by a player, a record that stood for 31 years

You don't have to be a hockey fan to appreciate what 39-year-old Alex Ovechkin has just achieved. The Washington Capital's captain and left winger scored his 895th goal against the New York Islanders on Sunday to become the all-time leading goal scorer in the NHL. Alexander the Great broke legend Wayne Gretzky's record which has stood for 31 years.
